Risk reduction councils of ZaNorte and Dipolog are Kalasag awardees

DIPOLOG CITY - The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils of Zamboanga del Norte and Dipolog City were recently adjudged best disaster councils in the Zamboanga Peninsula Region for 2012. 

For the municipal level, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur was chosen as the Best Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The “Kalasag Award” was given to Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (ZN-PDRRMC) and Dipolog City Risk Reduction and Management Council (DC-DRMMC) in an awarding ceremony held in Pagadian City, December 20, said Victor Bernido, Civil Defense Officer and Zamboanga del Norte coordinator.

DIPOLOG CITY - PNP Senior Superintendent Reynaldo Maclang recently declared his commitment to wipe-out illegal drugs problem in Zamboanga del Norte as his priority concern following his assumption as new commander of Zamboanga del Norte Public Safety Company ZNPPSC.

Upon his assumption, Maclang said he immediately considered the drug test as one of his priority projects to cleanse first his command from the undesirable elements and ensure that none of his men are involved in illegal drugs.

COTABATO CITY - Sa simpleng seremonya noong hapon ng biyernes sa harap ng gusali ng ORG, itinurn-over ni Executive Secretary Atty. Anwar Malang kay DAF Regional Secretary Engr. Marites Maguindra ang farm inputs at equipment na tulong ni ARMM Regional Governor Mujiv S. Hataman sa mga magsasakang dumanas ng hagupit ng bagyong Pablo sa ARMM.

Ang mga farm inputs at equipment na itinurn-over ay kinabilangan ng tig-10 units ng hand tractor na may makinang 10 horsepower at kalakit din ang 10 trailers. Ang bawat trailer ay may lulang tig-20 sakong sertipikadong binhi ng palay na may timbang na 40 kilo gramo bawat sako at sampung knapsack sprayers.

DAVAO CITY — The hard part of carrying out rehabilitation and reconstruction of areas ravaged by super typhoon Pablo requires integration of all strategies and resources, says Mindanao Development Authority chair Luwalhati Antonino.

In a meeting with U.S. Ambassador Harry Thomas, Jr. and officials of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) at the Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program Office here recently, Antonino stressed the need for greater coordination in doing medium and long term programs.

The meeting was also attended by Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman and Governors Arturo Uy and Corazon Malanyaon of Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental, respectively.

“We need all hands on deck to do the job of bringing normalcy to the lives of affected families and to move ahead with rehabilitation and reconstruction,” Antonino said, adding that, “the broader scale of medium and long term interventions entail greater integration.”
