GIZ TO IMPLEMENT PAME PROJECT INSIDE FIVE PROTECTED AREAS IN THE ZAMPEN AND ARMM

PAGADIAN CITY - The GIZ, a German-based overseas funding institution has selected five (5) Protected Areas (PAs) in the Zamboanga Peninsula (ZAMPEN) and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) toimplement the Protected Area Management Enhancement (PAME) Project.

The five (5) PAs include the Siocon Resource Reserve in Siocon, Zamboangadel Norte; the Mt. Timolan Protected Area Landscape in Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur; the Pasonanca Natural Park in Zamboanga City; and the Basilan Natural Biotic Area and the Mt. Dajo Protected Area of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

“With Sultan Pax’s tangible achievements, sound abilities, proven good governance and strong political will in Sultan Kudarat as former mayor, governor, congressman and as a leader affiliated in various international organizations, certainly he can replicate these to ARMM”, the first vice chairman and political affairs chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Ghadzali A. Jaafar said.

Seven Lives save by 2nd Mechanized Troopers

KUTA SANG-AN – The 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade through its Disaster Response and Rescue Operation (DRRO) team based at Maria Cristina, Iligan City was able to save seven (7) lives to include two children ages 2 and 4 during the conduct of open sea rescue operations to two capsized bangkas on 24 April 2013.

The seven (7) rescued survivors were among the local tourist witnessed the “Hugyaw sa Kadagatan” an annual festival celebrated by the municipality of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte wherein sea dancing and Gakit competition were the highlights of the events.

World Bank picks PH as pilot country for 'green accounting'

PAGADIAN CITY, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR - The Philippines has been chosen along with four other pilot countries for the implementation of a World Bank-led partnership that helps nations incorporate the value of natural resources in the national accounts.

This was announced by Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon J. P. Paje, who represented the country during a high-level ministerial meeting on natural capital accounting (NCA) or simply called "green accounting," organized by the international financial institution in Washington, D.C. last April 18.

Paje said the Philippines - together with Botswana, Colombia, Costa Rica and Madagascar - will serve as an implementing partner for the Wealth Accounting and Valuation of Ecosystem Services (WAVES) project of the World Bank.

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur - The Aquino administration’s groundbreaking environmental policies have made headway to cushion the impacts of climate change, improve disaster mitigation, preserve the remaining forests and biodiversity, and secure the country’s food supply.

Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon J.P. Paje made this assessment as the country joins the rest of the world in celebrating Earth Day on April 22 under the local theme, “Earth Day Everyday, Everywhere, for Everyone.”

“The first three years of the Aquino administration was highlighted by strong environmental governance with focus on reversing environmental degradation and enable sustainable living,” Paje said.

PAGADIAN CITY - There is a need for us to focus on the many faces of Climate Change besetting our Planet Earth as we strive hard to focus on providing a healthy environment for humanity. This can be achieved through eco-governance and partnership with the different local government units and their constituents.

This was the main message of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Executive Director Arleigh J. Adorable as read by Regional Technical Director Gil Ona during the short program preceding the coastal clean-up activity at the LGU Beach, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur last April 22, 2013 to highlight the celebration of Earth Day with the theme “ Earth Day Everyday, Everywhere, for Everyone”.

The event was conducted in partnership with the local government unit of Tukuran, Zamboangadel Sur led by Mayor Francisvic S. Villamero.

PAGADIAN CITY - A Broadcast Journalist dead on the spot after he was ambushed while on his way home riding his Badja motorcycle from his work at Radio Natin 101.7 MHZ DXML FM in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The assailants riding in tandem XRM Motorcycle without plate numbers followed victim and shot several times to death upon reaching in front of Peonex Gasoline Station along the National Highway of Barangay Salipyasin, Kabasalan town, around 11:30 a.m. on Monday.

Senior Inspector Rico Baid Pondol, officer-in-charge of the Kabasalan PNP, identified the victim as Mario Vendiola Baylosis 33 years old of Barangay Goodyear, Kabasalan. He sustained 3 gunshot wounds in close range at his chest, the gunman using cal. 45 pistol based on the empty shells and slugs recovered from the crime scene.

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur - Amih Andi, most wanted lawless leader in Zamboanga del Sur, and Ambak Magusan aka Imbok who were earlier reported seriously wounded during an encounter with 44th IB and later both were confirmed dead as reported by the Commander of the 44th Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr.

Barroquillo said both wanted lawless elements were buried this morning at Brgy Pampang, Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Sur. Andi was identified to be a resident of said barangay while AKA Imbok was traced as a resident of Brgy Laperawan, Alicia in Zamboanga Sibugay.

In a separate incident, joint elements of 44IB and PNP while on security patrol along the seashore of Brgy Tigbalogo, Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur were fired upon by a lone lawless element that ensued a brief firefight and resulted to the death of Rasul Manguda, identified to be a lawless element leader and a notorious extortionist in the area.

Firearms and assorted ammunitions recovered in an encounter

PAGADIAN CITY – Two firearms and assorted ammunition s were recovered by the joint military and police operatives after the encounter between the more or less 50 fully armed lawless group Thursday at 4:45 in the afternoon at Sitio KM2, Brgy Crossing Sta Clara, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.

In a reports submitted by 44th Infantry Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr to the headquarters of the Army’s Premier Tabak Division said that the government troops from the Army Special Forces and Philippine National Police responded the information from the civilians resulted to the 30 minutes firefights.

The lawless group headed by a certain commander Baser Sakilan withdraw towards the different unknown direction leaving at the encounter site on M203 grenade launcher, one M2 Caliber .30 carbine rifle, assorted ammunition's for M16 rifle, M14 rifle and Garand rifle and one rifle grenade.

PAGADIAN CITY – Pamolitika, butang-butang ug pagdaug-daug gikan sa ilang mga kaatbang sa Politika, mao kini ang gitumbok nga motibo nga nagpaluyo sa kaso sa Aman Scam nga iyang giatubang, kini ang pamahayag ni Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co, usa ka semana sa wala pa migawas ang Warrant of Arrest batok kaniya.

“Wala nay laing motibo nga nagpaluyo niining tanan kung dili ang akoang mga kaatbang sa politika,” matud pa ni Mayor Co.

Dugang pa ni Mayor Co nga ang paghilambigit kaniya sa maong kaso sa Aman ang may kalambigitan sa matud pa pagpahamtang sa 4% porsyento nga buhis sa operasyon sa Aman dinhi sa Pagadian nga maoy gibasihan sa  Syndicated Staffa. Kining maong argumento ang dakung bakak gumikan kay wala nagpahamtang ug buhis ang kagamhanang local sa operasyon sa Aman.

PAGADIAN CITY - Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) IX Regional Executive Director Arleigh J. Adorable has  issued instruction to all his Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officers (PENROs) and Community Environment and Natural Resources Officers (CENROs) to coordinate with their respective counterparts  from Commission on Election (COMELEC), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct their individual operations particularly the removal of campaign materials nailed on trees.

Said instruction was in response to the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) recently signed by Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) with the COMELEC and DILG to ensure a garbage-free election campaign.

A JMC was signed by the heads of the three agencies to make sure that local officials, political parties, party-list organizations, candidates and their supporters will adhere to the provisions of Republic Act (RA) No. 9003, or the Eoclogical Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, during the campaign period.

RA 9003 provides for a systematic and ecological solid waste management system to ensure the protection of public health and the environment through the adoption of Environmentally sound methods like waste avoidance and volume reduction.

Kagahapong adlawa Biernes pakyas ang mga tinugyanan sa NBI nga gipanguluhan ni Iligan City NBI District Office Chief Atty. Alex Cabornay sa pagdakop ni Mayor Co sa dihang wala kini makit-an aron e-serve and Warrant of Arrest batok kaniya didto sa ilang balay sa Barangay Tiguma ug sa iyang buhatan didto sa City Hall sa katarongan nga tua kini sa Manila on official travel.

Kaniadtong Webis April 4, sa mga alas 9:00 sa buntag gihimo sa mga pamilyang taug-Boto ang pagbabag sa runway human nga pakyas ang mga tinugyanan sa DOTC sa pagbayad sa ilang yuta nga mokabat ngadto sa 3 ka iktarya nga gigamit nga runway sa airport.

PAGADIAN CITY (April 5, 2013)The two commercial flights from Manila to Pagadian City and Cebu to Pagadian City of Cebu Pacific and Air-Phil were temporarily suspended following the establishment of barricade at the middle of the runway conducted by the heir’s of Datu Lucas Taug-Boto yesterday.

The two Airbus flights from the Cebu Pacific one in the morning from Manila to Pagadian and from Cebu to Pagadian in the afternoon have been temporarily cancelled since yesterday due to the runway obstruction at the Pagadian City Airport, according to their advisory while the Air-Philippines afternoon daily flight from Cebu to Pagadian was also cancelled.

The barricade in the middle of the runway with tent and streamer printed an quote “NO TRESSPASSING PRIVATE PROPERTY HEIR’S OF DATU LUCAS TAUG BOTO” was established in the middle of the runway by the heir’s led by the daughter Bai Sominal Taug who claimed to be the owner of more than 3 hectares of land of the runway due to non-payment of land by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) following the Supreme Court decision in favor to them.
