Army Truck Collided, 5 Soldiers hurt

LAMITAN CITY, BASILAN – At least five soldiers were seriously injured when their KM-450 troop carrier went wayward along the highway in Brgy Malo-ong San Jose, Lamitan, Basilan while heading towards the Headquarters of 104th Infantry Brigade in Brgy. Tabiawan, Isabela City Friday noon.

The said soldiers were about to show up for the Brigade’s anniversary. However, the truck initially went into a transmission failure locking its gears and sending it to turn full circle causing the soldiers inside to fell to the road pavement.
The five victims were identified as SGT. JILTON ALMONTE,. CRPL. REX DALIDA, SGT. RODRIGO TALAN, CRPL. ARNEL ALBERTO SUY and CRPL. RONALD SEBASTIAN.

Injured soldiers were rushed to the Torres Hospital in Lamitan City and one further to the Camp Navarro General Hospital at the Western Mindanao Command Headquarters in Zamboanga City for further Medical examination.

The soldiers suffered head and spine injuries while the truck incurred a slight dent and some rifle accessories were damaged.
