Mayor Salug released: Ransom P1.1 Million

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Mayor Jeffrey Lim of Salug, Zamboanga del Norte safely returned to his family at about 3:00 o’clock dawn, Tuesday November 5, 2012 after seven months of in captivity.

The released of Kidnapped victim cannot immediately be ascertained whether ransom was paid, ZaNorte Police Provincial Director P/SSupt. Atty. Alkaldre Sopronio said. But, reliable sources said that the released was done after the payment of P1.1 million ransoms. 
It was recalled that the 36 years old Mayor Lim was abducted by 10 heavily armed men wearing Police green uniforms. while taking his dinner at one of the restaurants at the integrated bus terminal in his municipality on April 2, 2012. It was believed that mayor Lim was brought to Basilan by his abductors.

Seven months ago, 1st ID Chief MGen. Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III directed all units to pursue the lawless armed group for the immediate safe rescue of Mayor Lim from and the neutralization of his abductors in support to the law enforcement operations by the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office.

The Tabak commander further implores the support of all stakeholders in the area in the spirit of Bayanihan in addressing lawlessness in the division area of responsibility.
