ZPRAA ended successfully with Zamboanga City as over-all Champion

PAGADIAN CITY – The week long activities of the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association Meet (ZPRAA) in Pagadian City has ended successfully on March 2, 2013 with Zamboanga City as the over-all Champion followed by Zamboanga del Sur for 2nd place, 3rd is ZaNorte, 4th Dipolog City, 5th Zamboanga Sibugay, 6th Isabela City, 7th Pagadian City and 8th is Dapitan City.

ZaNorte got champion for the Elementary level with 298.17 points; followed by Zamboanga City with 275.5 points and 3rd is ZamboSur with 228.67 points.

ZamboSur leads 16 points with 350 points against Zamboanga City with 334 points in the Secondary level and followed by ZaNorte with 228.67 points.

Governor Antonio “Tony” M. Cerilles of Zamboanga del Sur for the first time hosted the event in one venue at Dao Provincial Government Center catered the required sports facilities and the quarters of 8 delegations including the separate quarters for the technical officials.

The Governor during the closing and awarding ceremony had expressed his heartfelt thanks to the officialdom of the Department of Education (DepEd) for the trust given to the Local Government of Zamboanga del Sur for hosting the ZPRAA 2013.

The 8 participating delegations of Zamboanga Peninsula comprises 3 provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte and 5 cities such as Pagadian, Zamboanga, Isabela, Dipolog and Dapitan.

“We are very happy that everything is in order during the week long activities especially on the security aspects of our participating delegations and visitors. We see to it that the basic needs of our delegates like water and lights are in place including the free transportation from their quarters to the sports arena and around the 64 hectares Provincial Government Center,” Gov. Cerilles said.

“We are willing to host again the 2014 ZPRAA if allowed,” the Governor of Zamboanga del Sur added.
 
The ZPRAA started on February 26, 2013 at about one o’clock in the afternoon with a parade around the major streets of Pagadian City and followed by the opening program with the Senatorial Candidate Benigno “Bam” Aquino as the guest speaker.
