Seven Lives save by 2nd Mechanized Troopers

KUTA SANG-AN – The 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade through its Disaster Response and Rescue Operation (DRRO) team based at Maria Cristina, Iligan City was able to save seven (7) lives to include two children ages 2 and 4 during the conduct of open sea rescue operations to two capsized bangkas on 24 April 2013.

The seven (7) rescued survivors were among the local tourist witnessed the “Hugyaw sa Kadagatan” an annual festival celebrated by the municipality of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte wherein sea dancing and Gakit competition were the highlights of the events.

BGen Daniel A Lucero AFP, the newly assumed Commander of the Army’s Premier (Taabak) Division commended the bravery and the quick response of the DRRO team headed by Sgt Cristituto M Ripalda. “Their actions manifest the willingness of every Tabak Troopers to dedicate even their own lives just to save other lives. We are always ready to extend our help anytime when needed”. (With reports by Kit Kaimo)
