FMB Holds Re-Orientation Training for Forestry Law Enforcers

PAGADIAN CITY - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR’s) Forest Management Bureau (FMB) held a three-day orientation Training on Forestry Laws, Rules and Regulations and its Enforcement last April 17-19, 2013 at the Road Haus Hotel, General Santos City.

According to FMB Director Ricardo L. Calderon, the conduct of the said training is in line with the continuing efforts of the DENR to strengthen the capacities of its personnel involved in forest law enforcement.

In attendance were 35 forestry specialists assigned at the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office/Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENROs/CENROs) coming from DENR-IX and XII including their respective Regional Technical Directors.

The objectives of which were to strengthen the capacity of technical personnel at the FMB and DENR field personnel involved in the law enforcement; to identify problems encountered in the implementation of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Laws, Rules and Regulations; and to update the FMB and DENR personnel on the new Rules of Procedure on Environmental cases and evidence.

The training session which consisted of lectures and discussion about the forestry laws, rules and regulations and its enforcement and the application through mock trial and role playing was handled by FMB personnel who have technical knowledge and expertise about the identified topics headed by Atty. Alma Lanzo. Other resource speakers were Forester Mark de Claro, Mr. John Jaramillo, and Forester Raul Briz.(H.Ascura/DENR-IX PR)
