Army’s Premier Division celebrates the 115th year of Philippine Independence

KUTA SANG-AN, LABANGAN, ZAMBOSUR – The 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army conducted numerous activities in different areas to highlight and commemorate the 115th Independence Day Celebration yesterday.

The premier Division of the Philippine Army started the celebration by holding a Flag Raising Ceremony in its Headquarters at Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur around 8:00 o'clock yesterday morning and at about 9:00 AM a Bloodletting activity dubbed as ALAY DUGO, PARA SA KAPAYAPAAN was also launched with more than 200 soldiers donated blood at EP Clubhouse also in Hqs, 1ID.

Other events were the simultaneous Photo, Infantry Rifle Squad and Military Weapons Display at different Plaza, Malls and Shopping Centers in the area of Western Mindanao by the different Brigades and Battalions under the Command.

Another event was the awarding of medals by BGen Felicito Virgilio M Trinidad AFP, General Officer-in-Charge, 1ID to 7 brave soldiers for gallantry in action during a brief program held at Kuta Cesar S Sang-an Station Hospital at around 11AM.

In coordination with APO-SOZA-ALAS and Deseret Foundation the pre-screening operation for cataract operation was also conducted catering civilian and soldiers with cataract problem as beneficiaries.

BGen Trinidad emphasized to the Tabak troopers the message of the Chief of Staff, AFP which was read during the Flag Raising “With honour and pride, we vow to fulfil our duties as the protectors and defenders of the Philippine sovereignty and integrity. We will remain as this nation’s staunch catalyst of peace and development. And we will continue to uphold the pillars of good governance, democracy and human rights – ideals and values that hold us together as one people.”
