NFA Employee survived in ambush but son killed

PAGADIAN CITY – The National Food Authority (NFA) employee survived in an ambush but his son was declared by his attending physician as dead on arrival at the Pagadian City Medical Center this early morning while they were approaching their office.

Police investigation identified the victim as Sultan Radjak Bago, NFA employee who sustained multiple gunshot wounds at the back of his body while his son Jameril “Jimmy” Bago who is driving their car sustained fatal gunshot wounds at the head.



At about 8:00 am, the victim while on their way from their residence at Upper Campo Islam, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur going to NFA office at Brgy. Tiguma, Pagadian City and upon reaching few meters away approaching NFA office, two unidentified persons armed with M16 armalite rifle sprayed them and another person waiting near beside the NFA gate also fired at them in front using caliber 45 pistol, police investigation said.






After hitting the first burst, the driver manage to drive the vehicle up to the gate of the NFA but the two left side tire was shot at the drainage canal beside the gate. The driver was also hit by the bullets from the front by another suspect that made him failed to control the steering wheel, the also witnesses disclosed.

Another victim together with them boarded beside the driver identified only as their body guard also wounded and a certain bystander identified only as a laborer of NFA who was hit by the astray bullet at his leg were confined at the hospital.   

The suspects aboard on waiting single motorcycle as their getaway vehicle then fled immediately towards east direction.

Pagadian City Police chief P/Supt. Julius Muñez said that based in their initial investigation the motive incident is a family feud or Rido.

This is the second NFA employee who was shot in ambush. The first victim was Rosalinda Pajente y Buctan on January 16, 2010 while on her way to their office aboard a motorcycle for hire (habal-habal) around 8 a.m. when two men riding on another motorcycle chased her and the back rider shot her near a rice mill along the national highway of Bgry. Tiguma.

Police said, one of the angles considered also was the work related due to the previous incident.
