PAGADIAN CITY – The previous administration had issued firearms through donation to the Pagadian City Police Station. The new administration of the City Government is now conducting the inventory of said firearms among the PNP personnel who were assigned to the City PNP, including those who have been transferred to other units at present.

In a press statement sent by the Pagadian City Press Bureau said, City Mayor Romeo “Tata” Pulmones mandated the conduct of inventory as he became worried with the number of firearms like handguns, shotguns and armalites owned by the City Government issued to them in the past, however failed to surrender to their PNP Station.

These should be used to protect the people of Pagadian, he said, adding that there is a great need for inventory since there were reports that some of the firearms were not returned by the people issued with it specifically by some policemen assigned in Pagadian City during the term of the former administration.

The Legal Department of the City Government is studying on the situation where cases may be filed against these people if they refuse to return the firearms issued to them, especially those who were no longer assigned in Pagadian City Police Station, the Mayor divulged.

He further clarified that these firearms are not owned by the PNP, “these are owned by the City government. If owned by the PNP, then they could bring that anywhere they were assigned, but since it’s owned by the City Government, then they should learn to return that to the Pagadian City Police Station.”

The Mayor also added that even a group of civilians were issued with the same firearms but had yet surrendered them to the City PNP or to the City Government. Accordingly, they have to face the same cases in the future once they refuse to surrender the said items.
