CIVILIANS SURRENDER THEIR FIREARMS; DENOUNCE NPA ATROCITIES

BONIFACIO, Misamis Occidental – Approximately 600 civilian-participants composed of different sectors from the 12 Barangays of Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental conducted peace rally recently at the municipal grounds with the theme “Pagtimbayayong, Pagtinabangay ug Pagpakabana… Yawi sa Kalinaw ug Kalambuan” (Unite, Help One Another and Give Concern ….Key for Peace and Development). The peace rally aimed to highlight the people’s quest of peace and abhorrence of violence and war.

Col Apolinario Y Alobba, INF (GSC) PA, Commander, 101st Brigade, 1ID PA and LTC Rommel B Almaria INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, 55IB, 1ID PA also inspected the total of 112 assorted home-made low-powered firearms surrendered by the civilians from the 12 Barangays of Bonifacio, Missamis Occidental to the Bayanihan Team operators of 55IB.

During the program, the participants renewed their commitment to the democratic way of life thru an oath taking officiated by Bonifacio Municipal Mayor Hon. Evelyn C. Dumanjug.

The former NPA rebels torched the NPA flag in front of the participants to lambast the NPAs of their past atrocities for the detriment of the people.

“Let us join hands in addressing our peace and security concern towards attaining progress and development,” the message of 101st Infantry Brigade Commanding Officer Col. Alobba during the said occasion.

The New People’s Army undermined our economy and ruined our democratic way of life through the imposition of Revolutionary Tax, extortion activities, imposition of permit to campaign money and permit to win, sabotage to vital installations, purging of civilians who are not supportive to their cause and to their comrades who are suspected to be government agents among others, Col. Alobba disclosed.
