Ex-Mayor shot dead, wife and grandson wounded




PAGADIAN CITY, ZAMBO DEL SUR – The ex-Mayor Arsenio Climaco y Fortich of Tungawan town Zamboanga Sibugay, Southern Philippines was declared dead by his attending physician while on medical treatment at Western Mindanao Medical Center yesterday while his wife Helen Climaco y Canones, and their grandson identified as Shelimar Apidol y Climaco, 8 years old were still on medical treatment at the same hospital.

Yesterday at about 11:15 in the morning, November 14, 2013, while the couple together with their 3 grandchildren while boarded on their service vehicle Pajero vehicle and upon reaching the San Bernardino Bridge, Barangay Tetuan Highway, Zamboanga City in Southern Philippines suddenly unidentified suspects boarded on two single motorcycles riding in tandem shot them several times with the use of Caliber 45 Pistol.

Initial Police investigation conducted by Zamboanga City Police Station 6, disclosed that prior to the incident, victims together with their three (3) grandchildren and house maid were on their way home to Barangay Cabaluay, Zamboanga City on board on Pajero vehicle, colored blue with licensed plate YEH 631came from Chowking Restaurant located at Camins Avenue, Zamboanga City where they celebrated the 8th Birthday of Shelimar. 

Suspects immediately escaped and sped away towards unknown direction boarded on two (2) single motorcycles colored black and yellow without licensed plate.  

Responding police recovered two (2) empty shells of Caliber 45 Pistol at the crime scene. Thorough investigation is being conducted by Zamboanga City Police Station 6 to determine the identities of the suspects and their motive as well. By JONG CADION
