PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Dec. 27 (PNA)--The local police have strengthened the security measures in a bid to curb criminality in this city.
This came about after cases of shooting incidents have occurred on Christmas Day wherein three people were hospitalized.

Local police commander Supt. Glenn Dulawan said Friday the strengthening of security measures is to ensure safety of the public this coming New Year’s Day celebration.

Dulawan disclosed there will be random checkpoint aside from police visibility. They will be backed by soldiers from the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion.

Dulawan has also tasked the Barangay Emergency Response Team (BERT) to monitor their respective areas.

The BERT, which was newly-created, is a big help in the campaign against all forms of criminality, according to Dulawan.

He said also included in the monitoring is the illegal sale of firecracker and pyrotechnic products.

Meanwhile, he said that they have arrested Thursday two of the suspects of the Christmas Day shooting incidents. (PNA)
