Slain Zambo Sur mayor, wife, nephew buried in hometown

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Saturday/Dec. 23, 2013) - Mayor Ukol Talumpa of Labangan town, his wife Lea, and nephew Saripudin, were buried Saturday morning in his hometown of Labangan, this province.

Moro Civil Society Organization head Ibrahim Balimbingan said the remains of the three arrived in this city around 6 a.m. aboard a C-130 military cargo plane from Manila and were immediately transported to his residence in Labangan municipality.

Balimbingan is a third degree cousin of the slain mayor.
The Talumpas were buried following the Muslim rights at Brgy. Lower Sang-an, Labangan town, where the grave place of his father and some members of their family, according to Balimbingan.

The interment was attended by more than 1,000 relatives, friends, supporters and Political leaders headed by Zamboanga del Sur Governor Antonio Cerille.

They were killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen shortly after 10 a.m. Friday just outside the Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
An 18-month-old boy was also killed during the incident.

Balimbingan cited two possible motives of the incident - politics and family feud.
He refused to elaborate further.
