By HIROHITO D. CADION

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 14 (PNA) -– Thousands of jobseekers flocked to the City Commercial Center locally known as the C3 Mall as the four-day jobs fair, which forms part of the week-long “Pasalamat Festival,” opened Tuesday in this city.

The conduct of the jobs fair, which ends Friday, is spearheaded by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

DOLE provincial officer Lourdes Amores said local and overseas employment agencies offering various jobs vacancies are participating in the jobs fair.

Amores expressed her appreciation to the city government for providing the venue for the jobs fair and making it as one of the activities of the week-long festival.

PESO manager Virginia Amirol said the jobs fair was supposed to be held at this city’s gymnasium but was transferred to the C3 Mall for the convenience of the jobseekers and participating employment agencies.

Mayor Romeo Pulmones and Vice-Mayor Divina Grace Yu said the jobs fair provides employment opportunities to the Pagadianons as well as jobseekers from nearby areas.

The local government officials are thankful to the DOLE’s effort as well as the participating employment agencies for responding to the invitation to join the jobs fair.

The highlight of the “Pasalamat Festival,” which reeled off Monday, is the feast day of this city on Sunday in honor of its patron saint, Señor Sto. Niño. (PNA)
