Riding in tandem gunmen kill village chief, injure two others in Zambo Sibugay

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 8 (PNA) – The police are conducting thorough investigation to identify and arrest the suspects in a drive-by shooting that resulted to the death of a barangay official and wounding of two others in Zamboanga Sibugay province.

The incident took place around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday along the national highway in the Barangay Maganay, Buug town, Zamboanga Sibugay, according to the police.
Killed was Wiliro Elisan, barangay chairman of Sta. Cruz, Diplahan town, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Wounded were one of Elisan’s kagawad, Reynaldo Baldicasa and Juanito Encallado, barangay treasurer.

Initial investigation showed the victims were riding tandem in a motorcycle driven by Baldicasa when repeatedly shot by one of two men also riding tandem on another motorcycle that tailed them.

Elisan died on the spot while Baldicasa and Encallado were admitted at the Wilfrido Palma Hospital in Diplahan town, the police said.

The police said all possible motives are being looked into in a bid to unmask the suspects, who immediately fled after the incident, the police said. (PNA)
