Zambo Sur Interfaith contingent leaves for humanitarian mission in Palo, Leyte

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 6 (PNA) -- The Zamboanga del Sur Interfaith Forum for Solidarity and Peace contingent departed Sunday for a humanitarian mission to help the “Yolanda” victims in Leyte.

The 60-man contingent led by interfaith convenors Bishop Emanuel Cabajar and Sultan Maguid Marohum left this city around 9 p.m. aboard two buses and two Sports Utility Vehicles for Palo, Leyte.

Interfaith Secretariat Information Officer Faye Reyes said the contingent, representing the tri-peoples of this city and province comprises mostly of carpenters.

Reyes said they will help rebuild Churches, Chapels and Houses of the victims of super typhoon Yolanda.



Reyes said the contingent also has a documentation team that will conduct the assessment and undertake counseling activities to help the victims recover from the trauma they endured during the onslaught of “Yolanda.”

The contingent was the third batch sent by the Interfaith group of this province to undertake humanitarian mission in the Visayas region.

They were supposed to leave Monday morning but decided instead to leave Sunday night to catch-up with the schedule of ferry boats in Surigao City en route to the Visayas, Reyes explained.

Reyes said they will undertake reconstruction works for 10 days in Palo, Leyte.
He also said the contingent brought with them construction materials as well as foodstuffs and medicines.

The group will be hosted by the Dioceses of Palo, Leyte that will be in charge of the reconstruction works, Reyes said. (PNA)
