Golf legend Greg Norman opens 100-hectare world class golf course in Dakak

Greg Norman will visit again Dapitan City on Monday March 31, 2014 to have a site inspection of the on-going development of the golf course in Dakak Park & Beach Resort Dapitan City Official said Friday.

First established in 1987, Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNHCD) and Greg Norman are recognized today as the premier signature golf course designer and architects to the world.

GNHCD has opened 77 courses worldwide and has an additional 37 projects in various stages of development.

According to City Tourism Apple Marie Agolong said, Greg Norman Golf course design is designing the new 18-hole 72 par golf course at Dakak which will span over 7000 yards on approximately 100 hectares.

Agolong said, the estimate coast of the entire project is $18-million US Dollar and will be completed within three years.

Greg Norman also known as the Great White Shark already visited in Dapitan on April 16, 2012 using his own private jet all the way from Australia. He said that he is not afraid of coming in the Philippines particular in Mindanao because Dapitan City is just across Dumaguete City and even accessible using Cebu route directly to Dapitan City by a chopper or a small airplane.

Dapitan City Mayor Rosalina G. Jalosjos is extremely happy that the stigma that Zamboanga bring of being a war ravaged area does not discourage the living golf legend to build his signature golf course in Dapitan City particularly to Dakak Park and Beach Resort, Agolong said.

She said, the people of Dapitan City are very much excited for the accomplishment of this project as this will open Dapitan to international golf enthusiasts that will bring also additional income to the people.

Dapitan City is known as one of the best tourist destination in the country and the city’s income mostly depends on the tourism industry, City Tourism Officer said.
