Troops nab 2 kidnapping suspects in Zambo Sibugay

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, March 10 (PNA) -- Two alleged kidnap-for-ransom-group (KFRG) members were arrested in a raid at a safe house over the weekend by combined military and policemen in the province of Zamboanga del Sur.

Army’s 1st Infantry Division information officer Captain Jefferson Mamauag identified the arrested suspects as Hajer Dunggan and Alvin Prontosa, both alleged followers of KFRG leader Mamay Aburi.

Mamauag said the suspects were arrested at their safe house in Barangay Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

He said the suspects were reportedly consolidating their group in preparation to launching a kidnapping this week in this city.

Mamauag said the group of Aburi is involved in kidnappings, extortion and piracy in the areas of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte.
He said the group was responsible for the kidnapping of Alexa Dela Cruz last January 11 in Barangay Kima, Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay.

He said the raiding team recovered from the safe house an M-16 Armalite rifle, one M-14 rifle, one Garand rifle, two fragmentation grenades, a detonating cord, assorted ammunition and three motorized boats.

He said the raid was jointly conducted by troops from the Army’s 44th Infantry Battalion and Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office (ZSPO). (PNA)
