Labor Day celebration in Zambo. Sur generally peaceful

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines (May 2, MPF-NEWS) – The 112th Labor Day celebration in Pagadian City and Zamboanga del Sur is generally peacefull, Provincial Police Official said Friday.

Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre said that based in their monitoring there was no groups or any organization stage march protest rally was also monitored province-wide during the labor day celebration.

In Pagadian Ciity the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) together with the members of Pagadian City Tripartite Industrial Peace Council and the City local Government of Pagadian had jointly and successfully conducted the motorcade around the city’s Major Street and simple program at the City Cover Court participated by the private business community and labor groups. 

Provincial Labor and Employment Officer Lourdes Amores during the program commended the private business community of Pagadian City and Zamboanga del Sur in their untiring supports in the implementation of the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).

Amores said, for this year 2014 the business community was able to increased 50 percent of their SPES supports through pledges in the amount of P14 million pesos compared to last year with P7.1-million pesos.

Amores said, this year DOLE Zamboanga del Sur had able to employed a total of 3, 222 students for SPES with a budget of P8.3-million compared to last year budget in the amount of P8.1 million pesos.

Different games and contest with prizes was also conducted during the program that ended successful and peacefully.
