Newly-installed Pagadian City jail warden initiates changes

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, May 24 (PNA) -- Newly-installed Jail Warden Insp. Nathaniel Aljas has introduced changes at the local detention facility consistent with the thrusts and programs of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

The present thrusts of the BJMP is to make every jail in the country a drug-free detention facility.

Aljas said that among the changes he introduced is the intensified security and clean-up drive activity with the participation of everyone whether they be BJMP personnel or inmates.

Aljas said his aim is to make the city jail as the best or one of the best detention facilities in the country.


“Hindi naman masama kung mangarap tayo ng mataas,” Aljas told his personnel in a meeting.

He said the inmates as well as the BJMP personnel will not be vulnerable to sickness and disease once the local detention center is clean the reason why clean-up drive is among the measures he introduced.

“We should learn to keep our surroundings clean so that we will be safe from diseases,” he added.

He said that several improvised weapons and prohibited drugs were confiscated in the series of greyhound operations they conducted as part of the intensified security measures.

He said he also initiated dialogues with the detention cell leaders ON the importance of a clean and drug-free facility.

He is optimistic that the local detention facility will be gradually transformed into a conducive, clean and environment-friendly center with the cooperation of everyone.(PNA)
