NIA builds PHP90-M regional office in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, May 21 (PNA) -– The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) is constructing a P90 million two-storey building to house the NIA regional office in this city.

The new regional office building will be located in a 6,000 square meters lot provided by the city government at the Regional Government Center in Barangay Balintawak, this city.
NIA Administrator Claro Maranan and Mayor Romeo Pulmones led the groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday afternoon that signaled the start of the construction of the edifice.

They were joined by NIA Regional Irrigation Manager Diosdado Rosales and Provincial Board Member Jesus Bajamunde, who represented Gov. Antonio Cerilles.

Regional Center Management Coordinating Officer Eng’r. Leonila Sisona said Wednesday that NIA is the seventh government agency that transferred its regional office from Zamboanga City after this city was named as the new regional center.

This city has been named as the regional center by virtue of Executive Order 429 issued by the later President Corazon Aquino.

The city government has allocated a 20 hectare lot as the new site of the regional government center and was named in honor of the late President.

The said executive order has designated Zamboanga City as the region’s commercial and industrial center.

Meanwhile, Sisona said that about 65 percent of regional offices have already transferred either in full or partially. (PNA)
