Remote village in North Cotabato gets covered court




PIKIT, North Cotabato, May 15 (PNA) -- Hundreds of public school pupils will no longer endure the heat and open field during school activities like graduation and other programs after the provincial government completed and turned over a multi-purpose covered court here, officials said Thursday.

The P2.5-million project was inaugurated and turned over to officials and residents of Barangay Batulawan, Pikit, Cotabato.

North Cotabato Governor Emmylou Mendoza led the turnover of the project which was attended by hundreds of residents of Batulawan including teachers of Department of Education (DepEd) Pikit East District and their pupils.

The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) party-list through its Representative Raymond D. Mendoza funded the construction of the project.

Mendoza said the covered court will now become the venue of activities of Batulawan Central Elementary and nearby schools including Batatican Elementary School. Nunguan Elementary School, Gocotan Elementary School and Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology (CFCST) – Pikit External Campus.


Aside from these schools, other representatives of schools under Pikit East District witnessed the turnover ceremony including Barangay Balabac, Nabundac and Balungis Elementary Schools.

Responsive to the need of the schools in Batulawan, Mendoza knew that the project will inspire more the teachers and pupils in the village to focus on their academic and extra-curricular activities.

The covered court is appropriate for school programs, meetings, venue for competition and will even help the village officials of Batulawan in conducting their barangay activities.

“As your leader in the provincial government of Cotabato, it is my mandate to give you the projects and programs you deserve. Our partnership with the TUCP party-list has given us more opportunity to bring basic serves to the people of Cotabato,” Mendoza said.

Pikit Municipal Mayor Muhyrin Sultan-Casi and Cotabato 1st District Ex-Officio Board Member Dulia Sultan received the project along with Batulawan Barangay Kagawad Tautin Kumpa.

Roger S. Balimbingan, Pikit East District Supervisor also witnessed the turnover alongside Dr. Ali K. Dilangalen, Director of CFCST Pikit External Campus, Ibrahim S.

Maganod, Principal of Batulawan Central Elementary School and Abdulmutalib Tangkil, president of Parents-Teachers Association of BCES.

Each of these officials has expressed profound gratitude to Gov. TaliƱo-Mendoza and the entire provincial government for the essential project given to the village of Batulawan.(PNA)
