13 slot machines seized in Zamboanga Del Norte




PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, June 9 (PNA) -- The police have confiscated 13 units of slot machines in its anti-gambling campaign in the nearby province of Zamboanga del Norte, an official here said Monday.

Zamboanga del Norte police director Senior Supt. James Mejia said the slots machines were confiscated over the weekend through a joint operations by the police stations in Tampilisan and Liloy towns with the support of the Provincial Intelligence Branch.

Mejia said the slot machines were confiscated in the barangays (villages) of Lawis, Baybay, and Communal, in Liloy town and Sto. NiƱo, and Poblacion in Tampilisan municipality.

He said operation of these slot machines is a violation of Presidential Decree 1602 as amended by Republic Act 9287, an act increasing the penalties for illegal numbers games, amending certain provisions of P.D. 1602 and for other purposes.

He said the confiscation of the slots machines is also in line with the all-out war declared by Zamboanga del Norte Gov. Roberto Uy against all forms of illegal gambling in the province.

Uy was recently named as the new Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) chairperson. (PNA)
