PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, July 17 (PNA) -– The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has reported that the number of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries has increased to P80,539 in this province.

DSWD 4Ps Provincial Link Officer Evangeline Poquita said Thursday the increase was brought about by the continuing validation of beneficiaries and the implementation of 4Ps Sets 6 and 7.

Poquita explained the 4Ps Set 6, which is supposed to have ended in June, benefits poor families with children aged zero to 14 studying in elementary and secondary levels. Set 7, on the other hand, extended the age of children-beneficiaries up to 18 years old.

Poquita said the implementation of Set 7 is in response to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) K-12 program.

However, she said the parents will have to choose three of their children who will benefit in the implementation of 4Ps Sets 6 and 7.

Each of the three children studying in the elementary is entitled to P300 education assistance and P500 for those in high school.

They will also receive monthly P500 health assistance and Monthly Development Session (MDS).

Poquita said that 10,759 of the 80,539 beneficiaries are from Pagadian City alone, while 69,780 are from the different towns of the province.

Poquita said the number of beneficiaries is expected to increase further citing there are already 1,742 potential beneficiaries who are in the process of validation.

Meanwhile, she said the 4Ps beneficiaries, who did not received their subsidy for March and June, are set to receive their grant before the end of this month.

She said they are from the towns of Molave, Labangan, Ramon Magsaysay, Midsalip, Tambulig, Mahayag, Vincenzo Sagun, and Margosatubig. (PNA)
