Zamboanga del Sur town gets P9-M water system projects

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Aug. 22 (PNA) -– The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is set to implement next month P9 million worth of water system projects in nine barangays of the nearby Municipality of Aurora, this province.

DILG Project Development Management Officer Eng’r. Ali Hassan said Friday the projects are funded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) through the PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) program.

Hassan said the potable water system projects form part of the 2013 projects OPAPP has approved based on the proposal submitted by the Aurora municipal government through the DILG.
Hassan said the projects, which are worth P1 million each, were already bid out. In total, the projects are worth P9 million.

Aurora Mayor Boen Dorotheo Cabahug said the beneficiaries of the projects are the following barangays: Acad; Alang-Alang; Balintawak; Bemposa; Ceboneg; Commonwealth; La Paz, Libertad; and, Monte Alegre.



Cabahug said the nine beneficiary barangays were among the remaining areas in his municipality that do not have ample supply of potable water to meet the needs of the residents.

Aurora, which comprises of 44 barangays, is a second class municipality in Zamboanga del Sur. The town has a population of 48,434 based on the 2010 census of the National Statistics Office (NSO).

Cabahug has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the OPAPP and DILG for providing them the needed projects. (PNA)
