8-thousand bags of imported rice intercepted in Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur.

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del  Sur (Sept. 29, 2014-MPF News) --- The joint forces of the Margtosatubig Municipal Police Station and the army’s 53^rd Infantry Battalion were able to hold the 3 cargo trucks and sea vessels Motor Lance M/L Amesia loaded with imported rice at the Port of Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur Friday at 12:30 noon, Military and Police Official said.

             

Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre said the cargo trucks and boat are loaded with a total of 8-thousand bags of imported rice with questionable pertinent papers.

Based in their initial investigation Ecaldre said, the sea vessel was piloted by Boat Captain Jade Jackaria wit5h license number 9089-47 sailed from the Port of Taganak, Tawi-tawi to Margosatubig Port sometime on September 24.

Ecaldre added that some of the imported rice was already loaded in the 3 cargo truck and about to transport for Pagadian City were hold when inspected and discovered without proper documents.

The PNP together with the Military from the 53^rd IB is providing security supports of securing the items while the Bureau of Customs still conducting verification to the documents of the shipper, Ecaldre added.  

Zamboanga del Sur National Food Authority (NFA) Manager Nieves Toca said Monday the shipper identified as Arnisar Usman MadzNhur Tulawi from Tawi-tawi and the receiver is Jay Keneth Cabaluna Yap of Zamboanga City has comply with the regulatory permit after showing their NFA license during the inspection Saturday.

The NFA license will allow them to transport rice to at least 5,000 kilos and more than will need NFA Transport Permit, Toca added.

“With regards to determine wither the rice is imported or not is already the responsibility of the Bureau of Customs and if the shipment found is imported and has no proper documents, the rice will be deposited to our NFA Warehouse for proper disposition as recommended by the Customs, Taca explained.

The police authorities and military official are waiting today from the Bureau of Customs Official on the findings of their investigation and verification of documents from the shippers.
