10 army troops injured in Zamboanga del Sur vehicular accident

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Nov. 18, 2014-MPF News) --- Ten Army personnel belonging to the 52nd Engineering Brigade landed at the hospital after their military vehicle overshot and fell off a 100-meter deep ravine along the national highway of Barangay Anunang, in the nearby town of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur Monday afternoon.

The Army’s premier Infantry (Tabak) Division Public Affairs Officer Capt Franco Suelto said the passengers, one army officer and 9 enlisted personnel were safe now after they sustained only minor injuries and were brought immediately to Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte Provincial Hospital.

Suelto did not release the identities of the victims, saying only that they are assigned with the Army’s 52nd Engineering Brigade.

Aurora Police initial investigation disclosed that they were onboard the KM450 military vehicle Monday at 2:30pm travelling towards the Headquarters of 52nd Engineering Brigade Philippine Army in Camp Natividad Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon.
Upon reaching the deadly blind curve at the vicinity of Barangay Anunang near the boundary of Lanao del Norte the driver of the vehicle went out of control due to the malfunction of brakes.

Police identified the place as accident-prone, with this current mishap as the second vehicular accident that happened this year. The first was on April 27 wherein RTMI bus which figured in an accident that killed six people and injured 16 others. (JONG CADION)
