Police nab Iligan City information officer for Carrying Unlicensed Firearm

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Dec. 8, 2014-9News TV) --- The inquest case of violation of RA 10591 otherwise known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act was filed by Mahayag Municipal Police Station (MPS) Monday afternoon at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against the information officer of Iligan City Local Government.

Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre identified the suspect as Eleno Bacus Y Gelleca Jr., @ aka Jun or Waldo, married, Iligan City Government employee and residence of Zone Neptune 1. Barangay Suarez, Iligan City.

Ecaldre said Bacus was arrested after he was caught in the act by Mahayag Police Operatives carrying unlicensed firearm tucked on his waist in Barangay San Isdro, Mahayag at about 1:40 afternoon on Sunday.

In the initial investigation said, Bacus when being approached and confronted by the PNP elements for the legality of said firearm, suspect failed to present firearm licensed and permit to carry firearm and instead he only presented a mission order signed and issued by Major Marvin W. Beltran, commanding officer of 12th Intelligence and Security Unit, Intelligence and Security Group of the Phililippine Army based in Cotabato City dated 01 December 2014.

Confiscated from the suspect possession and control are one caliber 45 pistol colt, government model, bearing serial number 301269 with two magazine of Cal 45 loaded with twelve live ammunitions. 

Arrested person was temporarily detained at Mahayag MPS following the filing of the case docketed under criminal case number 2014-10- 2911. (JONG CADION)
