Pagadian City sets variety show to spice up New Year’s revelry





PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Dec. 31 (PNA) -- The city government, through the City Tourism Office, is sponsoring a variety show to spice up the New Year’s revelry in this city.

City Councilor Troy Asugas, Christmas Symbols Steering Committee chairman, said the variety show will include the “Dancing Fountain Show” and fireworks display.
Asugas said the show will be held at the City Plaza starting at 7 p.m. onwards to the New Year’s revelry.

Asugas said there will also be “a lot of surprises that will be presented tonight” by the City Tourism Council, which will be participated by different organizations.
He said that the second judging of the Christmas Lights Symbol contest will also be held tonight simultaneously with the variety show.

The city government has allocated Php 2.9 million for this year’s Christmas festival here.

The amount of Php 1.9 million of the total allocation will be given out as prizes in the Light a Barangay Hall Contest and the remaining Php 1 million for the Light-a-Tree Contest.








Asugas said the prizes for the Light a Barangay Hall Contest as follows: Php 350,000, first prize; Php 240,000, second prize; and, Php 130,000, third prize. The prizes will be given in the form of infrastructure project to be determined by the winning contestant-barangay.

Asugas said the prizes in the contest for the Light-a-Tree are the following: Php 100,000, first prize; Php 75,000, second prize; and, Php 50,000, third prize.
He added that consolation prize of Php 5,000 will be given to each of the non-winning participants.

He said there will be also a Light-a-Parole Contest and the prizes are: Php 350,000, first prize; Php 240,000, second prize; and, Php 130,000, third prize. The prizes will be given in a form of project to the winning contestant-barangay.

He said the final judging of the contests will be held on Jan. 18, 2015 in time for this city’s fiesta.(PNA)
