Zambo Sur police military launch campaign against firing of guns during New Year’s revelry




PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Dec. 30 (PNA) -– Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre, police provincial director, has warned license gun holders as well as policemen and soldiers against firing their guns in celebrating the New Year.

Ecaldre issued the warning, citing appropriate charges and penalties will be slapped against anyone caught firing their guns during the New Year’s revelry.

He said they and the military have launched a joint campaign against firing of guns in this province.

The campaign was launched following a coordinating conference with the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion.

Ecaldre said the campaign aimed to achieve zero stray bullet casualties in welcoming the New Year.

On Monday, the Firearms Explosive Security Agency and Guards Supervision Section (FESAGSS) inspected and sealed the muzzle of the service firearms of security guards detailed in the different business establishments. (PNA)
