Comelec: 39,438 SK voters set to cast votes once election pushes through

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 23 (PNA) -- A total of 39,438 youths are set to cast their votes in this province once the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections pushes through, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial office here.

Atty. Ignacio Baya, Provincial Election Supervisor, said Friday that the 39,438 youths, who are SK members, are registered in this province’ 26 municipalities and one component city.

Baya said this city, being the capital of this province, has the highest number of youth voters citing that 6,236 of the 39,438 SK voters aged 15-17 are registered in this city.

Baya said the youths will cast their votes come Election Day in the 681 clustered precincts they have created in the entire province.

The Comelec central office has decided to move the election period of the SK elections from Feb. 6 to March 2, or 15 days before Election Day and nine days after.

Anacleta Balinton
Meanwhile, Anacleta Balinton, the election officer of the nearby town of Dumingag, has been designated as acting election officer of this city.

Balinton replaced Atty. Dinah Sapong, who resigned as this city’s election officer. (PNA)
