Catholic priest led prayer rally to support suspended Mayor in Iligan City

ILIGAN CITY (Aug 15, 2015, 2015) --- More than 5 thousand supporters of Iligan City Mayor Celso Regencia joins a prayer rally Saturday morning held at Iligan City Freedom Stage.

Three group of marchers led by the different religious organizations civil Society Organization (CSO) and Non-Government Organization (MGOs) who joint the prayer rally were started from, different area of Barangay Tubod, Palao and city proper meet at the junction along the national highway going towards Sabayle Street Public Market and ended at the City Plaza freedom Stage for the Prayer Rally and Program.

The march and prayer rally started at 7:30 morning and ended at 11:30.

Iligan City Catholic Church Vicar General Msgr. Jemar Vera Cruz, one of the prayer rally organizer said they join prayer rally because they believed that there is no truth of the accusation and there is injustices committed against the suspended Iligan City Mayor Regencia.

Msgr. Veru Cruz accused congressman Barf Belmonte for fabricating the issue called ambush me in the vicinity of the Laguindingan airport and pinpointed Mayor Regencia as the mastermind of the incident and other city hall employees were purely political motive.

Vera Curz expressed his gratitude to the people of Iligan City for vigilant and awareness in supporting the fight of suspended Mayor Regencia against the corruption disclovered in the City government after he assumed office as elected mayor of Iligan City.

Some business and commercial establishment were also closed as sympathy of supports during the prayer rally

Vera Cruz said that there was a conspiracy of corruption discovered in the city hall committed by the former administration regarding the Php104 million expendure of 3,007 allegeldy gosh employees of the city hall in 2013 which is involving political allies of Congressman Belmonte and the case was now pending under investigation in the ombudsman.

Very Cruz also requested President Pinoy to conduct a thorough investigation of the problem to give justice to the people in Iligan City

Fr. Naser  Zaragoza of the St. Vincent  Parish then enjoined residents here to be with the people for a prayer rally in the midst of the crisis the city is facing. To note the mayor and the congressman will both run for mayor in next year's elections.

Early this week the Iligan City Police failed to arrest Mayor Regencia at his residence following the warrant of arrest was issue by the Regional Trical Court against him in his involvement in the ambush of Iligan City lone District Representative Belmonte.

Regencia at present is nowhere to be found and as of this time the warrant has not been served yet.

Atty. Rejoice Subejano one of Belmonte's lawyers said enjoined the mayor to respect the court and that he must submit himself and allow due process to take its course.
