JRMSU celebrates Saludo Festival 2015 in Dapitan City




DAPITAN CITY --The Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) which is the only university in the province of Zamboanga del Norte had been consistent in their bid to be at par with, if not surpass the other universities in the Philippines, City Tourism Officer Apple Marrie Agolong said.

Agolong said JRMSU is under the Presidency of Dr. Edgar Balbuena with his three Vice Presidents, Dr. Aida Lanioso, Dr. Reynaldo Venezuela and Dr. Evelyn CampiseƱo together with Dr. Marissa Recapente as the Chief Administrative Officer and Prof. Jay Telen as Dean of Student Affairs and Services.

She said it had a very successful and impressive opening salvo of their Saludo Festival this afternoon at the grounds of the university's main campus here in Dapitan City which is also dubbed as the Shrine City of the Philippines!

Mayor Rosalina G. Jalosjos is very pleased with outcome of the opening program and encouraged the university administration as well as all the other sectors in the city to come up with events that would harnesh the creativity of each and every Dapitanon, Agolong added. 

Jalosjos added that Dapitan City with tourism as the main product is focusing on activities which directly or indirectly promotes the arrival of both domestic and international tourists, she disclosed.

The City Mayor is inviting everyone to come, visit and enjoy Dapitan hospitality, history, culture, food, entertainment and eco-tourism adventure!

She said the Mayor is very confident that once you have a vacation in Dapitan, you will be taken back to the era of Dr. Jose Rizal while at the same time enjoying the amenities of tourism and the modernity of its entertainment provided by the private stakeholders which are doing business in the city such as the Gloria de Dapitan which housed The Fantasy Land, which is also the only theme park in Visayas and Mindanao with more than 45 rides, the biggest and longest roller coaster in the country and the horroriest horror house this writer ever tried in her vast travel experiences.


JRMSU was the venue of the 2011 Palarong Pambansa and a number of inter university and inter-city athletic competitions. “It has five campuses in the province and the home university of the AFS Exchange Students from all over the world. She said. (JC-PFM)
