MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Jan. 19 (PNA) -- The Spanish government through the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) released Monday PhP3 million grant to the nearby municipality of Tamparan in this province.

Salma Jayne Alonto-Tamano, provincial information officer, said on Tuesday that the grant will be used for the rehabilitation of the public market of Tamparan.

Tamano said the PhP3 million in check was handed over by OPAPP Assistant Secretary Jennifer Oreta to Tamparan Mayor Topaan Disomimba in a simple ceremony held at the provincial capitol.

She said the turnover ceremony was witnessed by Provincial Administrator Mocamad Raki-in, Provincial Accountant Norhana Sumandar and Provincial Engineer Sirad Laut.

Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. said the rehabilitation of the public market in Tamparan will benefit the farmers and fishermen as well as the entire community.

“Our farmers and fishermen will have a place accessible and conducive for them to sell their products while the community would be assured of purchasing fresh agricultural products,” Adiong, who is on official travel, said through telephone.

Adiong and Disomimba expressed their gratitude to the Spanish government for the grant, which is of big help to them. (PNA)
