Update situation in Butig, Lanao del Sut

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur ---To address the plight of the Internally Displaced Persons from Butig, Lanao del Sur, Governor Mamintal Bombit Alonto Adiong, Jr. has created a Crisis Management Committee (DRRMC) which he heads.


Jennie Tamano, Provincial Information Officer said that as of the moment, there are 2067 validated evacuees (335 families) who are in Marawi City who have been given relief goods. 657 families have fled to Masiu, Lanao del Sur and are currently being provided with relief goods.

Tamano said the number of evacuees who have fled to Lumbatan, Lumbayanague and Poona Bayabao heve yet to be validated.

She added that according to the DRRMO of Butig, there were 7,6800 evacuees from Butig as of 3:00 pm on Feb. 22, 2016. This information has yet to be validated by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

She said repacking of relief goods provided by the provincial government of Lanao del Sur is being done in the Provincial Capitol Complex per instruction of Governor Adiong.

She added tha-t the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office is now preparing to go to the other towns where there are evacuees to provide them with relief goods.

According to the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police during a meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council which is headed by Governor Adiong yesterday, the armed group they are battling with are treated as criminals as they have committed a criminal act.




Governor Adiong says he wants his government to ensure that no civilians get hurt and that evacuees are properly taken care of.
