School Canteen collapsed due to landslide in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY (May 19, 2016) The school canteen including the parameter fence of Pablo Litigio Elementary School located along V. Sagun corner Alano Street, San Francisco District of this city were collapsed, Thursday at 5pm due to landslide following the 3 hours heavy rains.

The flow of traffic of the said place were affected but were cleared later by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) personnel who responded to the area after the school canteen was transferred in the middle of the road due to landslide.

CDRRMC head Haron Damada said no casualty or injured were involved because there were no classes, pedestrians and vehicles passes when the incident happen.

Damada said the soil foundation where the canteen constructed was soften after the drainage canal overflows that causes the soil to collapse including the parameter fence. The parameter fence was made up of filed stones.

Damada added that the estimated damage were reached to more or less 200,000 thousand pesos since the canteen was made up of light materials.
