Another 2 ASG members arrested in Zamboanga City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Oct. 8, 2016) – The joint police operatives had successfully arrested two members of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) during the conduct of manhunt police operations carried out by Regional Intelligence Division- Regional Special Operation Group 9 led by PSUPT FERJEN T TORRED, Officer-in Charged, RSOG9, and the team from Regional Intel Division and Zamboanga City Police Office in Barangay Sta. Barbara, Zamboanga City particularly beside the LTO office Friday at about 9:30 PM.

PSupt Rogelio C. Alabata, Chief, Public Information Officer identified the arrested ASG members as Abdul-latip Talanghati y Suwaling aka Latip Sihata/ Tatang, 64 years old, married and Albashrie Talanghati y Sata aka Tagalog/ Abu Tarik, single, both residents of Luuk, Tungkil, Sulu.  

Abdul-latip Talanghati is among those responsible in the Sipadan Kidnapping and with 5.3 million pesos reward for his arrest.

PSupt. Alabata disclosed that the arrest of two ASG members was made by virtue of Warrant of Arrest docketed in Criminal Case no. (505-4) 122473-h for kidnapping and serious illegal detention with ransom defined and penalized under Article 267 of the RPC.

Confiscated from the possession and control of ASG members were a suspected one pound net high explosive TNT, detonating cord and time fuse. The suspected explosive was processed by EOD of ZCPO for further disposition and investigation, he added.

He said that the arrested ASG members are temporarily detained at Zamboanga City Police Station 11 pending turned over to the issuing court at RTC Pasig, Metro Manila.

Further, prior to the arrest of the two ASG members, the police operating unit obtained information that the subject ASG were planning to conduct atrocities in the City of Zamboanga.

As this developed, PCSupt. Billy B. Beltran, PRO9 Acting Regional Director, lauded and commended the operating police units for a job well done and for their utmost efforts that resulted to the arrest of the ASG members. 

PCSupt. Beltran urges the general public to continually support and cooperate with the police by providing timely and relevant information on any wanted person/ terrorist who may be hiding in their respective places.
