Four (4) military wounded in IED explosion in Basilan

Zamboanga City (November 14, 2016) - Four (4) military personnel were wounded in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion Monday at 9:15 am in Barangay Sabong, Lamitan City in the Province of Basilan, military official said.

Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) Spokesperson Maj. Filemon Tan Jr. disclosed that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded while operating troops of the 14th Scout Ranger Company, Special Operations Command under the Joint Task Force Basilan were conducting foot patrol in the said place.

As a result, all wounded personnel were immediately evacuated by reinforcing troops to Lamitan Hospital and later airlifted to Zamboanga City for further medical attention at the Camp Navarro General Hospital and a private hospital in this city, Tan said.

Tan added that the troops continue to assist the police in the conduct of investigation and pursuit operations.
