PRO9 Celebrated 27th PNP Foundation Day

ZAMBOANGA CITY (February 5, 2018) - The Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) under the leadership of PCSUPT Billy B Beltran, Regional Director celebrated its 27th PNP Foundation Day coinciding with the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony held at PRO-9 Quadrangle, Camp Col Romeo Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City at about 8:00 in the morning of February 5, 2018 with Mr. Christopher Lawrence S Arnuco, Chairperson and Administrator of Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority as Guest of Honor and Speaker, official said.  
    
ZCPO-PRO9 information officer PCInsp Helen L Galvez disclosed that this annual celebration was highlighted by the giving of Paque of Appreciation and Plaque of Recognition to deserving individuals and agencies contributed vastly to the plans and programs of PRO-9.




Lt. Col. Abdurasad D Sirajan of Western Mindanao Area for MILF Affairs of AHJAG, WESMINCOM, Zamboanga City; Dr. Agnes E Fernando of Zamboanga Del Sur Provincial Medical Center; Hon. Joel G Vercide, Presiding Judge of Branch 1, MTCC, Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur; Atty. Peter L Medalle, Chief, Regional State Prosecutor and Messenger Gilbert C Gente of Parish Priest, Our Lady of Lourdes, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, cited with Plaque of Appreciation for imminently services rendered to PRO9, thereby contributing immensely to the attainment of its mission.



Council of Advisers for Muslim Advancement (CAMA); Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency 9; Department of Public Work and Highways; Regional Inter-Agency Council against Trafficking IX; Municipality of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay; Psychiatry Department of Zamboanga City Medical Center; Technical Education and Skills Development Authority 9 and PRO9 Press Corps, cited with Plaque of Recognition for the untiring support and invaluable service rendered to PRO9 that contributed immensely to the accomplishment of PRO9.

PCInsp Galvez further said that the PNP celebrates every January 29 as founding anniversary in commemoration of the casing of colors of its forerunner organizations, the Philippine Constabulary and the Integrated National Police, and the official activation of the PNP on January 29, 1991. The PNP inaugurates its founding anniversary after the effectivity of R.A. 6975 entitled, “An act establishing the Philippine National Police under a reorganized department of the interior and local government in January 1991.



To further strengthen the PNP into a highly efficient and competent police force, RA 8551 entitled “PNP reform and the reorganization act of 1998” was enacted. The PNP shall be a community and service oriented agency responsible for the maintenance of peace and order and public safety, PCInsp. Galvez added.
