Davao City Tops in Medal standing in Batang Pinoy Mindanao 2018

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (March 12, 2018) – The Batang Pinoy Mindanao Leg wraps with Davao City clinching top post in the final rankings while General Santos City and Davao del Norte takes home second and third spots respectively in a weeklong Mindanao sports competition.

A total of 1,266 medals have been awarded and final results have been validated and filed after 7 days of healthy competition among Mindanao athletes.

With its final medal standing, Davao City runs overall champion in the recently concluded PSC-LGU Batang Pinoy Mindanao Qualifying Leg 2018 here in the Oroquieta City swopping 64 Gold 35 Silver 27 Bronze, 14 Gold ahead of General Santos City after dominating the last final games to include Batang Pinoy 2018.

See how the different delegations racked up medals to place and qualify for the Batang Pinoy Nationals to be held in Baguio City on September this year.

Dance Sports Competition and Chess Davao City who is tailing General Santos City for the past three days of Batang Pinoy Mindanao Qualifying Leg 2018 and with its last ditch of winning games to include the winning streak of Davao City in the field of Chess and in Dance Sports Competition it leads with 14 Gold to become the overall champion with 64 Gold 35 Silver and 27 Bronze in the last day of Batang Pinoy Mindanao 2018.

General Santos City who settled for the second overall garnered 50 Gold 53 Silver and 58 Bronze while Davao del Norte placed third in the medal standing of 39 Gold 28 Silver an 42 bronze. 4th place comes Zamboanga City with 38 Gold 13 Silver and 28 Bronze, 5th is Koronadal City with 28 Gold 31 Silver and 41 Bronze, 6th is Tagum City with 28 Gold 29 Silver and 23 Bronze.

The 7th place is Cotabato gains 26 Gold 25 Silver and 20 Bronze while South Cotabato takes the 8th place with 25 Gold 35 Silver and 34 Bronze and 9th place is Iligan City with 20 Gold 27 Silver and 25 Bronze, while Cagayan de Oro City takes the 10th place in the medal standing with 19 Gold 10 Silver and 9 Bronze.

In its aim to be qualified and gain more medals to be proud representing the province of Misamis Occidental and their own Local Government Units, Plaridel remains in the 14th place with 5 Gold 8 Silver and 5 Bronze, Calamba landed in the 26th place with 3 Gold 1 Silver 3 Bronze, Aloran on the 39th place with 1 Silver medal, Panaon in the 42nd place with 1 Silver, Jimenez on the 46th place for the last stretch win the Bronze in the Little League Baseball While Co-Host of Batang Pinoy Mindanao 2018 Team Oroquieta City after showing its might in Sepak Takraw Girls Doubles REGU and gain the 1st Gold was followed by another Gold in Lawn Tennis Boys Doubles and landed in the 16th place with 5 Gold 3 Silver and 6 Bronze,

Indeed it is said that Oroquieta City will be going to Baguio City for the Batang Pinoy National Finals comes September 2018 to compete in Sepak Takraw Girls and Lawn Tennis Boys as well as Plaridel, Calamba Misamis Occidental with the commitment of each Local Government Unit and help and support from the provincial Government of Misamis Occidental who in way or another might be the host of the 2019 Palarong Pambansa.

Meantime Misamis Occidental SP Chair on Sports and Youth Development, Games and Amusement thanked and congratulated all athletes, coaches, trainors, parents and stakeholder to include the employees and volunteers of the just concluded Batang Pinoy Mindanao Leg 2018 who in one way or another support Batang Pinoy not because of what they get honor and pride or Gold Silver or Bronze medals but how this children play and wins the game and the stakeholders support, for they are the one who are responsible in our children future.

Boardmember Richard “Voting” Centino said “By heart it is my responsibility to pass some resolution or ordinances to make realization that in Misamis Occidental Batang Pinoy is not only a wakeup call to all Local Government Units to strengthen its sports development to help and support our youth be it in school or out of school, with this resolution or ordinances might be the way to a sustained and meaningful sports development for the sake of the youth of today for they are the future of this country”….

In the Batang Pinoy Mindanao Qualifying Leg 2018 the Philippine sports Commission has released 431 Gold medals 397 silver medals and 438 Bronze totalling to 1, 266 medals to be awarded to every winning Local Government Unit and this will be evaluated who will be send to the Batang Pinoy National Finals comes September 2018.

Accordingly 3 individual events winner and 5 per team game from every Local Government Units who again willing to send their winners and achievers to participate.
