PAGADIAN
CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (March 21, 2018) – After an armed encounter
with Army troops Monday, fleeing Communist New Peoples Army (NPA)
Terrorists kidnapped a family of three farmers and used them as human shields
in the nearby province of Misamis Occidental.

Division Public Affairs Office Acting Chief Capt. Benjie A. Jimenez
disclosed that the Communist NPA Terrorists’ abduction of civilians for use
their human shields was confirmed by Mayor Junie Roa and Roxas Barangay Chair
Marieta Dologaog both of Aloran Municipality, Misamis Occidental.
Capt.
Jimenez said the two (2) local chief executives reported that three of
their constituents were forcibly taken from their home and used as human
shields by 10 Communist NPA Terrorists while retreating after their armed
encounter with 10th Infantry Battalion troops at Barangay Sinampongan of the
same municipality.
The
10th Infantry Battalion immediately conducted operations was able to rescue the
kidnapped civilians Tuesday morning, he added.
He
also said that the kidnapped civilians were released after the Communist NPA
Terrorists were able use them as human shields to scamper away from the Army’s
rescue operations. Military official identified the Two (2) of the kidnapped
civilians were husband and wife farmers Renie and Aireen Ando. The house of the
victims were approximately 500 meters from armed encounter site.
Major
General Roseller G Murillo, Commander of JOINT TASK FORCE ZAMPELAN,described
this terroristic act of kidnapping innocent civilians for use as human shields
as a crime against the International Humanitarian Law and the act of desperate
criminal cowards who care nothing about the welfare and safety of the people.
Major
General Murillo. acknowledged the help of the local government chief executives
particularly Aloran Mayor JunieRoa who was instrumental in helping the
AFPlocate Communist NPA Terrorist in his municipality.
He
added that the Communist NPA Terrorists are no different from the
Daesh-inspired terrorist who attacked and burned Marawi- they share the same
terroristic tactics to attain their respective terrorist goals.
