34 firearms and explosives voluntarily turned over by LGU-Maigo, Lanao del Norte

PAGADIAN CITY, Zambo del Sur (April 25, 2018) – Thirty-four (34) assorted firearms were voluntarily surrendered to Joint Task Force Ranao in the municipality of Maigo in the neighboring province of Lanao Del Norte on Monday 10:30 in the morning, Military Official said.

Division Public Affairs Office Acting Chief Capt. Clint P. Antipala said the ceremonial turn-over of firearms was headed by Maigo Municipal Mayor Rafael C. Rizalda, with Colonel Ezra James P. Enriquez, Deputy Brigade Commander of 2nd Mechanized Brigade of the JTF Ranao in the covered court of the municipality.

Capt. Antipala added that the yielded firearms and explosives include one light anti-tank weapon, twenty-six high-powered firearms, seven low-powered firearms, eighteen fragmentation and rifle grenades and one improvised explosive.

Mayor Rizalda explained the advocacy of President Duterte in turning over all loose firearms not only in Mindanao but in the entire country as a whole. “Today we turn over loose firearms in my municipality in line with the President’s advocacy.” Said Rizalda.

“Peace and security is a shared responsibility. Collaboration among the local government units, local populace and  the securing forces is vital in attaining just and lasting peace in our area of responsibility” said Army’s Premier Tabak Division Chief Major General Roseller G. Murillo, Commander, JTF Ranao.
