The surrenderers also turned over their crew serve and high powered firearms that include a rocket propelled grenade, an M16 rifle, a Squad Automatic Weapon and a Garrand riflem, Xapt. Petinglay said.

“The surrenderers felt that it is time for them to return to the fold of law after seeing that the President is serious about his campaign to attain peace in Mindanao,” said MGen Arnel Delavega.

“We encourage other members of the BIFF to also surrender as this is a rare chance,” he added. “I am positive that the others will also soon follow.”

The identities of the surrenderers are withheld for their security.

“I am personally elated by this turn of events. No BIFF has ever surrendered prior to this recent accomplishment,” said Lieutenant General Carlito G. Galvez, Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
