Four of the five killed of Hacking Incident in Sirawai were minors

SIRAWAI, Zamboanga Del Norte (April 15, 2018) - This pertains to the reported four of five victims of Hacking Incident were minors that transpired at about 3:30pm of April 14, 2018 at Barangay Pulang Lupa, Sirawai, Zamboanga Del Norte. Suspect died after manage to escaped from the police detention.  

Police Region Office-9 Chief-PIO Chief Inspector Helen L. Galvez identified the victim as Saidemar Wahid Y Callon, 11 years old, minor and resident of the said Barangay. The additional reported victims also identified as Nasser Halis y Pablo, 7 years old, minor; Mohammad Said Mocaddam y Bra, 7 years old, minor; Hadimar Halis y Pablo, 7 years old, minor and Madjid Halis, 35 years old, married, farmer, all resident of Brgy. Libucon of the said municipality.  The five victims were hacked to death by suspect identified as Asgal Ontong y Kalas, 34 years old, married, Habal-habal driver and resident of Brgy. Libucon also of the said town.

Chief Inspector Galvez disclosed that responding police officers from Sirawai Municipal Police Station together with personnel from Zamboanga Del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company, 905^th Regional Mobile Force Battalion in coordination with 42^nd IB Philippine Army responded to the report and apprehended the suspect near the crime scene. Recovered also from his possession the bladed weapon used by the suspect in committing the crime.

 Suspect was properly turned-over to Sirawai MPS at about 6:00pm of April 14, 2018 for tactical interrogation/investigation.

Further at about 4:30am more or less of April 15, 2018, while the suspect temporarily detained at Sirawai MPS, asked permission to the duty personnel of Sirawai MPS for call of nature and removed his handcuffed. However, while the suspect was approaching the comfort room, without hesitation, managed to escape the duty personnel passing through the fence of Sirawai MPS and fled to unknown direction. Immediately, duty personnel alarmed the personnel of Police Staion for the possible recovery of the suspect.

The personnel of Sirawai MPS properly informed the friendly forces in the AOR about the incident and conducted search and hot pursuit operation for the recovery of the suspect.

That on or about 5:30am more or less of April 15, 2018, personnel from Sirawai MPS together with ŹNPFMC and 905^th RMFB, while conducting search at the Sitio Bunkhouse, Brgy. Sirawai Proper, along near the swamp area of the said place, suspect suddenly attacked from his hiding and grabbed the service firearm of one of the responding policemen which prompted to the responding personnel to open fire which resulted to the instantaneous death of the suspect.

Cadaver of the suspect was properly turned-over to the relatives after the conduct of post mortem examination by the RHU of Sirawai and documentation by Sirawai MPS.
