3 dead and 10 injured in Zambo Sibugay Rural Bus and Tricycle collision

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (May 8, 2018) – Three died while ten others were wounded after the passenger Bus and Tricycle accidentally head-on collision Monday at 5:56pm along the National Highway of Purok 4, Sitio Suloan, Brgy Kimos in the municipality of Siay in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, Police Official said.

The passenger Bus registered under Rural Transit Mindanao Inc. (RTMI) with 44 passengers on board driven by Chistopher Tugna De Leon, 40 years old, married, and a resident of Market Site, Curuan, Zamboanga City while the Tricycle loaded with 11 passengers driven by Fernando Malabas De Guzman, 41 years old, married, and a resident of Purok 4, Brgy. Coloran, Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay, Case Investigator PO1 Harry T. Ora disclosed.

In the initial investigation conducted that passenger Bus from Zamboanga City to Pagadian City and the Tricycle is travelling in opposite direction and upon reaching at the place of accident the tricycle driver losses his control to the driven tricycle and encroached to the opposite lane thus resulted to the head-on collision with the Bus. 

PO1 Ora identified the dead 3 passengers as Justin Perarin, 3 years old, who was declared Dead on Arrival (DOA) by the attending Physician while Jovelyn Reyes Suico, 36 years old, a resident of Brgy. Siloh, Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay was dead on the spot and Aila Suico, 3 expired while being treated for injuries. 

The wounded passengers identified as;

-Jeneth Manso Atilano, 39 years old;

-Adrian Manzo Atilano, 12 years old, Grade 7 student;

-Mica Manzo Atilano, 8 years old, Grade 4 student, all resident of Lunzuran Zamboanga City;

-Tresha Reyes Mendoza, 15 years old, Grade 10 student;

-Jenelyn Reyes Mendoza, 35 years old, Teacher;

-Angel Mae R. Suico, all residents of Brgy. Siloh Siay ZSP;

-Nicole Mendoza, 7 years old, resident of Brgy Poblacion, Siay;

-Janus Perarin, 7 years old, resident of Brgy Mahayahay, Siay, ZSP sustained serious injuries on different parts of their body and was brought to Kabasalan Pathfinder Hospital for immediate medical attention including the tricycle driver was transferred to Zamboanga City General Hospital.

Further, passengers of passenger bus were all safe and transferred to other bus owned by the RTMI, while the bus driver voluntary surrendered to Siay Municipal Police Station after the accident. Both vehicles involved were brought to Siay MPS for proper disposition.
