Ex-Convict arrested for Illegal Possession of FA in Molave

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (May 4, 2018) – An ex-convict was arrested after hitting his leg in a shot out between the responding police Friday at about 8:34am in the municipality of Molave of this province.

Case Investigator SPO2 Reynaldo D. Hilot and PO3 Gerald G. Isidto in their initial investigation disclosed that a report reaching at the Police Station regarding the unidentified male person carrying a short firearm was cited along Capistrano Street, Barangay Madasigon, Molave.

Upon receipt of the report, alert team of Molave Municipal Police Station responded to the reported place to conduct investigation as to the veracity of said report, the police official said.

While on the process of conducting investigation, it was found that PO1 Roel Endrena had already engaged in a shootout with the suspect who ran away and reportedly hiding at the house of certain Manuel Vismanoz, located at Guillingan Street, Barangay Madasigon, Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Immediately, the responding PNP team conducted hot pursuit/dragnet operation and was able to arrest the suspect later identified as Roger Placedo Ginsayaw, 37 years old, ex-convict from San Ramon Penal Colony (under parole probation), tri-sikad driver, and resident of Midsalip Municipality of this province and presently residing at Purok Manga, Blancia Street, Barangay Madasigon, Molave.

The police confiscated from the possession and control of the suspect one unit homemade caliber 38 revolver (Smith and Wesson) no serial number with six live ammunitions on the chamber with holster.

Investigation further disclosed that prior to the incident, PO1 Roel Endrena personally saw two male persons chasing each other along Capistrano Street, Barangay Madasigon, Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur wherein one of them was calling for help.

Thereby, PO1 Roel Endrena responded and identified himself as police officer, when suddenly the suspect pulled out a short firearm from his waistline and shot once the said PNP personnel but fortunately was not hit and subsequently PO1 Endrena return fire hitting the left leg of the suspect.

However, suspect still managed to run towards the house of Manuel Vismanoz of said place.

Investigation also revealed that the arrested person was one of the suspects involved in robbery incident transpired last week particularly at the municipality of Aurora, of this province. 

The arrested suspect is now presently confined at Blancia Hospital in Molave, for medical treatment while an Inquest case for direct assault, violation of COMELEC Gun Ban and RA 10591 are being prepared for filing in court.
