Suspect commits suicide after stabbing his Son

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (June 3, 2018) – The suspect committed suicide after stabbing his son Saturday at 2:00am, the incident transpired at their residence in Purok 2. Barangay San Vicente in the municipality of Dumingag of this province, police report said.

Police identified the victim as Jovert Dayap Senarillos, 9 years of age, his father Roberto Abong Senarillos stabbed him.

In the police initial investigation disclosed that the victim was sleeping together with his mother Joan Dayap Senarillos and his father Roberto Abong Senarillos. The mother was awakened by the groan of her son and she noticed that it was already bleeding while his husband was kneeling beside her son and holding a knife.

Immediately she grabbed the hand of her husband and wrested the knife and then shouted for help. However, due to superior strength, the suspect was able to stab himself with the use of same knife for several times on his abdomen. Fortunately, their neighbors positively responded and held the suspect.

The victim (son) sustained a stabbed wound on his abdominal part while the suspect (father) sustained multiple stabbed wound on his abdominal part. Both were immediately rushed to Ozamis City Hospital for medical treatment.

Dumingag Municipal Police Station is now conducting thorough investigation to establish the motive behind the stabbing incident.
