1 Dead in Law Enforcement Operation at Salug, Zamboanga Del Norte

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur  (July 21, 2018) - Combined elements of 901st Mobile Company of RMFB9 together with personnel of Regional Maritime Unit 9 (RMU9), Zamboanga Del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) in coordination with Salug MPS conducted law enforcement operation through service of search warrant at the house premises of Benhar Lendit Muksan alias “Bin-Bin” situated at Tabuk Suba, Barangay Poblacion West, Salug, Zamboanga del Norte on July 19, 2018 at about 6:00pm, Polixce Offic ial said.

Police Regional Office-9 (PRO9) PIO Chief CINSP Helen L. Galvez disclosed that  the Search Warrant number 1-18 was issued by Hon. Judge Rowena S. Carpintanos-Magallanes of MCTC Salug-Godod, 9th Judicial Region, Salug Zamboanga Del Norte for Illegal Possession of Explosives

CINSP Galvez said that the search was witnessed by Mrs. Nanie Nelia Cabil Daffon and Mr. Edelberto Arbutante Amodia, both elected Barangay Councilors of Barangay Poblacion West, Salug, ZN. The search was conducted at his placed of residence and ended at about 7:20 PM of the same date.

Galvez added that the operation was resulted to the seized/confiscation of the following items to wit:

-One piece hand grenade

-Eight pieces blasting caps inside black color plastic

-One roll time fuse color red 38 inches

-One roll time fuse color red 63 inches

-One roll time fuse color red 253 inches

-One kilo ammonium nitrate in a plastic color black

-1.5 kilo ammonium nitrate in a plastic color black

-½ kilo ammonium nitrate in a plastic color black

-Fifteen kilo ammonium nitrate in a sack color white

-One set MNLF camouflage uniform new

-Three pieces assorted camouflage uniform old

-One hundred twenty-four pieces blasting caps in a box with plastic color blue

CINSP Galvez also said that the subject of search warrant tried to evade the checkpoint/blocking team prior to the service of SW and offered violent resistance by pulling a handgun from his waistline and aimed at the direction of the operatives that prompted one of police officers from Regional Maritime Unit 9 to shoot. The injured subject was brought immediately to Liloy Integrated Health District Hospital for treatment but died while undergoing medical attention. The search was conducted at his place of residence and ended at about 7:20PM of same date.

The search was also conducted by the investigator on case at the motorcycle without plate number color black (RUSI Brand) used by the evading suspect duly witnessed by the above mentioned barangay official and recovered three heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline granules believed to be shabu at the u-box of the said MC, she said.

Meanwhile, at around 10:00 o’clock in the evening of the same date Team SOCO from Zamboanga Del Norte Crime Lab Office arrived at the crime scene and recovered one unit Smith and Wesson Caliber .357 Magnum revolvers with serial number 052353 loaded with six live cartridges, Galvez added.
