3 Dead, 5 Injured in Vehicular Traffic Accident

KATIPUNAN, ZaNorte (july 7, 2018) - Vehicular traffic accident transpired along the provincial road of Brgy Seroan, Katipunan, Zamboanga Del Norte at about 3:40pn of July 5, 2018.

The accident involving Green Utility Vehicle with plate no JVE 527 and driven by Rex Abuhan y Ageas, 29, married and a resident of Brgy Seres, Katipunan, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Initial investigation conducted disclosed that said vehicle was travelling from Brgy Dos bound to Brgy Seroan both of Katipunan, loaded with passengers and goods. Upon their arrival at the place of accident, said vehicle failed to climb the ascending part of the road and further move in backward motion and subsequently fell in the cliff with estimated height of 5 meters.

As a result, one passenger died instantly identified as Jeann Adaro Quitoan, 13, grade 7 student and inflicted injuries to other passengers identified as follows:

a. Merlita Adaro Quitoan, female, 38 yrs old, married;

b. Ira Adaro Quitoan, female, 15 yrs old, grade 8 student;

c. Rosel Hapay Gunday, female, 39 yrs old, married;

d. Angel Bais Encarnacion, female, grade 6 student;

e. Wilihado Ugbad Lumanda, male, 50 yrs old, married;

f. Jonilo Gumalang, male, grade 7 student, all of Brgy. New Rizal, Sergio Osmeña and

g. Dina Jumawak Padayhag, female, 35 yrs old, married of Brgy. Seroan, Katipunan.

All injured victims were rushed to ZaNorte Medical Center, Sicayab, Dipolog City for medical treatment, but Ira Adaro Quitoan and Wilihado Ugbad Lumanda were pronounced DOA by the attending physician. Investigator is PO1 Joerich Ramos with CP no 09300110463.
